Route 1
Carlingford to Omeath via the Greenway
Approximate Duration: 2 hours.
Distance: around 15km.
Best for: Families, Couples, Groups
This is our most popular route. Travel from Carlingford to Omeath along the Greenway. Enjoy uninterrupted sea and mountain views as you cycle along this spectacular coastline!
This route is family friendly. Take in the slow paced atmosphere of Omeath, where there is plenty to see and do.
Route 2
Carlingford to Greenore
Approximate Duration: 2 hours.
Distance: around 12km.
Best for: Couples, Groups
Take an easy spin to Greenore. Relax and watch the ships pass by or take a stroll on the beach. Look out for Finn the Dolphin. Enjoy the panoramic views that inspired C.S. Lewis to create Narnia when he wrote The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
Route 3
Carlingford to Whitestown
Approximate Duration: 4 hours.
Distance: around 20km.
Best for: Couples, Groups.
If you are in need of a change from the hustle and bustle of the city, why not take a trip to Whitestown. Cycle along this enchanting coastline and enjoy a leisurely cycle through this most tranquil and unspoiled part of the country. Savour some of the local hospitality in the renowned Lily Finnegan’s pub,locally famous for its friendly atmosphere.
Route 4
Carlingford to Templetown
Approximate Duration: 4 hours.
Distance: around 20km.
Best for: Couples, Groups.
During the summer months, why not visit the Blue Flag Templetown beach! This is one of Ireland’s undiscovered gems! Famous for its long strand which connects to the neighbouring beach of Shelling Hill. Enjoy a long walk or just take a break and soak up the sun.
Route 5
Carlingford to Cranfield
Approximate Duration: Full day.
Distance: 25km with ferry crossing.
Best for: Intermediates.
If you are thinking of a full day out, a spin to Greenore followed by catching the Carlingford Lough Ferry across to Greencastle and cycling to Cranfield Beach makes for a fabulour experience. Linger in Greenore and explore the village before taking the ferry on the half hour from Greenore Port. The return ferry is on the hour but always check the timetable when booking tickets for the ferry.
